Tony & Guy Shampoo (Cleanse and Anti-Dandruff) Review

13 Jun 2016

Tony&Guy Shampoo (Cleanse for dry hair and 2 in 1 anti-dandruff shampoo)

I wanted to try a new shampoo and I often try new ones because I cannot settle on one thing, saying that, this is exactly what my hair needs. Until now! I bought 2 shampoos from nykaa.com from the company, Tony & Guy. I bought one for my dad and one for me but I ended up using both of it.

Tony & Guy : 2 in 1 Anti-dandruff Men's shampoo:
Ok now this is a product worth raving about. I bought this reading all the awesome reviews on Nykaa and without a doubt in my mind purchased it for my dad.
I then suffered from a dandruff outburst (travelling out station everyday in the sun mixed with dust and sweat does not leave your hair in a good state). So one night, after coming back from college, when I rushed into the bathroom I saw this sitting on the shelf looking right at me with a halo over its cap (mild exaggeration). I tried it and from that moment onwards, I did not let my dad use that shampoo every again. THE END (LOL).
Getting back to the review... The shampoo is thick and is of a deep white colour. On application you can feel it blending in with your hair and reaching your scalp with ease. The shampoo leaves your hair feeling soft and clean and really really healthy. It has 2 in 1 action ie. it has an inbuilt conditioner (Techy terms!). On using this my hair-fall massively reduced.
This shampoo is worth a try. The price is mid ranged and wait for discounts on Nykaa you will get it for a reasonable amount.
You can but this HERE.

Tony & Guy - Cleanse for Dry Hair:
This shampoo had a glittery look and is flowy.  You will absolutely need a conditioner with this shampoo.  The cleanse shampoo does exactly what it says, it leaves your hair clean and gives you a rejuvenated feel. Use this shampoo if you don't need to target a particular hair problem and you are washing it to just clean it and intend to do nothing like damage control or colour retention. A very positive thing about this shampoo is that,  it is not harsh at all. After a wash your scalp does not feel dry or flaky, this shampoo is the best for people with dry scalps.
You can buy this HERE.

Current Favourites - Beauty

24 Oct 2015

Five things that I have stuck by this season are the products above. Now, I did not want to add a lot of skin care products that I have been using on a daily basis, for that you can click here. I have been going through this time where I want to test more products and really experiment with things that I want to try as right now I am comfortable with my skin after a "war" with my acne.

Acne on my skin gave rise to many open pores and some dark spots. Following a regiment of skin care I managed to get rid of the dark spots but still have open pores. The Lakme Absolute Pore Fix Toner does not only tone my face to give it that early morning glow but also hydrates it and fixes pores eventually. I saw the effects of this product in a week. One thing that I learnt is do not use this product on your pimples and do not apply it on open capillaries. It can result in  breakout instead of fixing the skin. It has a spray for an applicator but I'd suggest that you follow the traditional way of spraying the toner on a cotton pad and applying it on your skin as a little of this product goes a long way (and too much of it may make your skin feel oily especially if you stay in a hot and humid city).

I have always been up for face masks but never a fairness mask (honestly because I have no intention of changing my skin colour any time soon LOL). I this time wanted to try a mud mask and the website I shopped on had this rose petal mud mask from a company called Just Herbs Now I've never heard of this company before but if Nykaa.com sold this product I thought why not give it a shot. I ended up loving this product not only because of the packaging which is awesome but also how it made my skin feel so soft after I washed it off.

Now every beauty blogger, especially a lot of them from Mumbai rave about the Maybelline ColorGlow BB Cream. I guess this happens because of the product's light weight (on the skin) and medium coverage. It comes in 3 shades (I am the shade nude) and blends well with the skin, you do not have to completely cover your skin with this and can just hide the trouble areas with it. It is a bit pricey but if you are just getting into Makeup this is one product I'd definitely suggest.

I bought 2 Lipsticks and the shades are awesome. The Lakme Enrich Satin is in a purple/mauve shade which surprisingly goes with my skin. If you follow me on instagram you must have seen me wearing it. The second one I bought was again from a brand I did not hear about it is called Iba. This lipstick has a matte red shade and because it is a herbal lipstick it smells really good. I have noticed that this can dry out your lips so make sure you apply a bit of lip balm before applying it.

The Best Summer + Anti Acne Skin Care products

22 May 2015

Summer is coming to an end (...almost), but if you're in Mumbai, you know we are in this state of  perpetual summer. I have been using the featured products for quite some time now. These products are unbelievably light on the skin and are amazing if you are out the whole day. I used most of these products to get rid of my pimples. If you know me, you know that I suffered from major breakouts and after following a particular skincare routine and having gallons of water I can proudly say "my skin has never been healthier". These products are not particularly for girls and can be used basically by anyone.

For cleansing my skin I use the ' LAKME-gentle and soft deep pore cleanser' as I have very sensitive skin, this works the best for me. I use this to remove any make up on my face, and as  that happens very rarely this bottle lasts me for a fairly good time. It has a cream base which smells utterly delicious.  Facewash-wise I use 'Ayorma fairness and anti-tan facewash' let me put in a small disclaimer, I in no way intend to change the colour of my skin because Indian-dusky is hot. I use this product because it makes me feel really fresh, it has this scent of lemons, which all by itself feels fresh.

I use 'Proactive Refining Mask' once a week on my whole face and if I breakout I apply it on that spot. The whole Proactive  treatment did not work for me, but I really liked how this mask made my skin feel, that is a little dry and firm. If you have some acne this product dries it out.

To keep my eyes healthy and hydrated I use 'Kiehl's - creamy eye treatment with avocado'. It does wonders and clings on to your skin throughout the day. I love using this and I recommend this to everyone with any skin type. Now because of my pimples and oily dry combination skin-type I am not a great fan of moisturisers but 'Emolene' made this a lot easier on me. It is literally a weightless moisturiser. If you hate applying moisturisers this is perfect for you, as it will change your view completely.
(P.S. Moisturising is very, very important for a healthy skin.)

Last and one of the most important step is to protect yourself from the harmful UV rays and there is nothing better than a sunscreen to do this job. I use 'Sunheal' or 'Neutrogena ' depending on my mood.
Sunheal is a bit difficult to apply, you cannot apply a lot of it otherwise it leaves a purple tinge on your skin, but I find Sunheal a lot better protection wise which is important and preferable when I am out in the sun. Neutrogena is easier to apply, creamy and not tinted. Plus it is less pricey.
I use my homemade almond and oatmeal scrub, for my face I have written an entire post on that and I'll link that here.

Create and stick to a skincare routine that includes products that suit you the best. Avoid touching your face often and drink lots of water.

My Top Five Lipsticks

30 Oct 2014

These are the five lipsticks I am currently using and loving. 'My top five lipstick' blog has been on my blog list forever and I am happy I can finally do it. I have been wearing a lot of lipsticks in darker shades, and as you can see among the top 5 lipsticks three of them are dark and pretty bold . Starting from the left My top five lipsticks are:
Elizabeth Arden
(in the shade Petal 18)
The packaging of this lipstick is amazing. The rose gold case matches the light pink shade of the lipstick and just makes it shine. The texture of the lipstick is glossy and the shade is as it is named, like a pink rose Petal. This colour might look simple but the pink really stands out.

Makeup Revolution
(in the shade Reckless)
This is personally my favourite Lipstick. The colour stands out and it is moderately glossy. By moderately glossy I mean, it is not too glossy where your hair sticks to your lips  when it flies across your face. If you use a tissue, place it over your lips and brush powder over it (a foundation blush is perfect for the job) , it gives a matte effect. This Lipstick stays on the whole day, it does not come off easily. I highly recommend it.

NYX
(in the shade Sparkling beige)
I got this lipstick in my Fabbag and it perfectly matched my skin tone. It is sparkly and perfect when you want your lips to stand out with a nude colour. The texture is glossy and it makes your lips pop.
This Christmas you will see me wearing this often.

Oriflame
(Warm Rust & Baked Brick)
These lipsticks are very pigmented and leaves a strong colour when you put it on but it fades away in 3 to 4 hours so it has to be reapplied if you are wearing it to office or college. The texture is slightly less glossy than the Makeup Revolution. I apply a lip balm first and then put it on. The colours are pretty unique and perfect for winter.

These are my top five October lipstick. Enjoy!

Autumn Makeup Haul

11 Oct 2014

This season I decided to go bold. Autumn, being all about bold dark colors, I dared to pick some shades that would stand out. For my lips I went in with the reds and maroons, for my eyes I picked up a palette with autumn-y colors and YES glitter was on my list. On the contrary I wanted to go subtle with my cheeks, so I picked up a Mild Cherry colored blush.

Product Names:

Eyeshadow - Makeup Revolution London Iconic2 Redemption palette
Eyeliner - The One by Oriflame (Gel pen Eyeliner)
Blush - VeryMe by Oriflame (Cherry my cheeks)
Lipsticks:
Makeup Revolution London (in the shade Reckless)
Oriflame (shades - Baked Bricks & Warm Rust)
Lip balm - Honey Hut (Strawberry Surprise)

Skin care routine {acne prone skin}

5 Oct 2014

#1. Always wash your face with cold water, twice a day.
(The face wash that I use is 'Karacnyl' for acne prone skin.
Cetaphil gentle face wash is another one that I highly recommend)

#2. Moisturize your skin daily.
(Break outs are caused due to excess sebum on your face, which is released to    compensate for the lack of moisture in your skin cells)

#3. Exfoliate once a week.
(Home made scrubs are really easy to make, here is a link to help you make your own easy scrub)

#4. Face masks - once a week
(TBS's tea tree face mask cleanses your pores and is amazing for acne prone skin)

#5. Hydrate yourself.
(Drinking water regularly can have a massive effect on your skin. 8 cups of water a day           is a must)

Homemade Face Scrub

4 Oct 2014

Homemade scrubs and face packs are really easy to make. As the ingredients are fresh and natural, essential nutrients are present in it (depending on what ingredients are used the nutrients vary). Exfoliation of the skin, at least once a week is necessary to free your skin from dead cells. If your skin is sensitive a cream exfoliator is highly recommended.

My face scrub
Equal portions of ground almond and ground oat meal.
Base: Honey, Milk, Cleansing milk.
(I used honey as the base)
Scrub and leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water.

Autumn Hair Style #1

3 Oct 2014

Though autumn has begun, the temperature in Mumbai is pretty high. Therefore, for my autumn style I decided to tie my hair in a way that goes along with, the autumn trend. With the correct technique of twirling and tying a messy fish-tail, creating this hairstyle is very easy. If you do not like hair falling over your shoulder you can replace the fish-tail with a messy bun. To go along with the hairstyle, I wore a floral dress. This dress can be topped with a neutral colored cardigan and knee high boots or regular boots with knee high socks.
Dress - Forever21
Eye-liner - Glasel by Oriflame
Mascara - Visions by Oriflame (in the shade Dancing Queen)
Lipstick - Gem Miracle diamond gold lipstick (the shade is written in Japanese )

The Lakme 3in1 Aquashine Lipcolor

22 Sept 2014

The Lakme 3in1 Aqua shine Lipcolor in the shade 'FIG' is my go-to lip gloss. It is glossy but doesn't go overboard with the shine. The color is absolutely perfect for someone who would prefer neutral makeup shades or  for someone who wears minimal makeup (for example an eyeliner, concealer and gloss). This gloss is always in my college handbag, and before lectures I just swoosh it on and I am ready to go.
A good thing about this gloss is that it makes your lips feel soft and conditioned (it is a lip conditioner after-all) even after the color fades away, and YES the color fades away pretty soon,to avoid this you can use a lipstick as a base for your gloss.
