Di Bella Coffee: Freakshake Review

We visited 'Di Bella Coffee' quite some weeks back and found a different, rather an extra menu with  3 "Freakshakes" and their description on them. The first time my sister Sam and I decided to order the The Melbourne Freakshake and on our second visit we decided to have the Gold Coast Pretzel Freakshake. One glass of this freakshake can be shared by two conveniently. The cost of each freakshake is Rs.250, it is a bit pricey but worth a try. Another flavour we decided not to opt for, was The Childhood Wonderland, which is usually served with marshmallows and all the fun stuff on top, but we were overwhelmed by the colours and the amount of pink and  yellow chocolate. Maybe we'll try it some other time.  

The Melbourne Freakshake:

This is my favourite freakshake. The milkshake is perfect, it is not too sweet, the toppings goes well with the shake. The chocolate pearls on the glass and in the shake are surprisingly tasty, usually these toppings don't have much flavour in it. They serve this with oreos. The waffles were an added bonus. Di Bella is famous for it's waffles and incorporating their waffles in the freakshakes is a smart and delicious move. If you have an option to try one freakshake only go for this one.

Gold Coast Pretzel Freakshake:

If you enjoy really sweet milkshakes this is the freakshake you should opt for. They serve a sweet butterscotch milkshake with whipped cream on top and loads of crushed salted pretzels. It is topped with Twix and some waffle pieces (Di Bella Speciality). Finally to bind all the craziness together they top the freakshake off with some caramel sauce.

Scrumptious (Foodie Review)

Hello....

So I decided to finally do it. This is my review on scrumptious! I have been here quite a few times and I could not make up my mind on, whether I should review the food served in Scrumptious or no. But in the long run of having most of my Sunday morning breakfasts here, I picked up some favourites. (Location: Seven Bungalows, Andheri West)

Barbecue sauce: One dish that I enjoy often, is their Chicken Barbecue Burger (The first image of this post). It's so juicy, the barbecue sauce is a bit different and it has a more sweet and tangy flavour to it. They serve the patty topped with the perfectly caramelised onion (not too crunchy, not too mushy), I personally don't like the salad on the side but the fries are good and seasoned....SEASONED.....which makes it really GOOD. 
 Kheema Paratha: This one is a family favourites, but let me warn you, this is a cheat dish, heavily loaded with oil and loads of kheema. It is served with mango pickle and curd, which goes very well with any paratha to be honest.
The other dishes worth trying,
The Lamb Burger & the Fries with Cheese.

There are a few dishes that are really good and a few dishes that are a big no no.

Avoid the panckaes (It says it is nutella but its not) and stay away from the cold coffee

The ambience is good, it looks like a  modern Goan caffe in a land far far away (cheeezy). Plus the service is good too, the waiters are sweet but make sure you get what you order because I have seen quite some cases where the waiter brings out a wrong dish to a wrong table.

The BURRRP Machine (Review)

It has been a long time since I have sat down and actually written about food. This is exciting! After a long time my first post is about the first food-truck I have ever visited and my experience was good. Mumbai needs more food-trucks. 

The Burrrp Machine reminds me of two foodies that I have known since my childhood, Shaggy and Scooby Doo ( for reals... ) . I ordered for a chicken burger, two sandwiches, a cold coffee and I took home some more burgers. The burgers were a hit for me! They serve a juicy patty that is perfectly seasoned, with a slice of cheese balanced with crunchy vegetables, packed in a warm and soft bun, I also tasted the sandwiches and there were quiet some good options for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian folks. The barbecue chicken sandwich was amazing with a sweet and tangy barbecue sauce (a must have dish). They serve Hot-Dogs, but I did not have any more space in my stomach. A second visit to The Burrrp Machine is fixed, I heard they have a new menu and I am excited to try out some more of their awesomeness.

Hagen Daz + OOTD

I recently told my MUM that we should go out somewhere and visit some place new. I hadn't been out to a restaurant or dessert place for quite some time now (at least not a place that I could write about). My mother agreed and we decided to surprise Sam and take her to Hagen Daz Which was over all a good experience for the soul, but a bad one for the wallet. We drove for 20 minutes to a branch of Hagen Daz Ice-Cream parlour in Powai, (Powai is a grand and lovely place in Mumbai). I loved the place where this Ice-Cream parlour was, it honestly felt like some mini Londonish town. We sat in there and ordered a Brooklyn Bridge, which was a Sundae and later on we had some cones.

I loved the flavours and the decor on the platter (p.s. the bridge made out of chocolate had no taste at all which was a downer, when I speak of flavour I mean purely the flavour of the ice-cream stood out ). The ice-creams were exceptional but you'd get most of the flavours in Naturals Ice-Cream Parlours if you do not want to splurge. I'd recommend Hagen Dasz only if it was a really special occasion and if you'd want to truly indulge. 

The Boston Cupcakery Review

Hello everybody! I haven't uploaded much since the past month, honestly I don't know why. Nothing made me excited enough to write about it. As this was the condition of my life, I decided to take things in my own hands and go ahead searching for something to write about. I spent all my pocket money on getting gifts for my mother who celebrated her birthday recently, so I did not have any money left for a haul and I missed the great flat 50% off sale (:( ). Anyway I decided to do something I really like and feel really passionate about, that is reviewing food, so without any further ado here is 

The Boston Cupcakery review.

     

THE BOSTON CUPCAKERY

is situated in Lokhandwala Andheri West (Mumbai, India). It is a small shop standing just after the Lokhandwala bridge, so you need to keep your eyes wide open to find this tiny piece of heaven. This place cannot accommodate many people but it does home delivery, that makes up for this drawback. The service is splendid, they literally answer every doubt you have regarding the menu, and the cupcakes they suggested were spot on what I wanted to eat.
When you walk inside the glass door they have the cupcakes showcased right ahead. On the right side there was a wall with decorative frames and a mirror, and a shelf that had jars of sugar, cocolate chips, coffee beans, etc. which is pretty much what you would want to see in a cupcake shop.

Coming on to the cup cakes, we over-ordered because we wanted to try everything and our bill came up to Rs.740 (for 4 people). I'll mention my order at he end as I do it in all my food blogs. They have three categories of cupcakes ie. Signature cupcakes (Rs.100), Central cupcakes (Rs.80) and Classic Cupcakes (Rs.60). The flavours in the menu ranges from the exotic Red Velvet cupcake to the Fruity Blueberry cupcake to the mouth watering Gooey chocolate cupcake to the simple Vanilla cupcake. Check the menu carefully because you would not want to miss out on any flavours. The cupcakes we ordered were moist and melted in the mouth instantly. Some of them had fillings in their centre which was awesome because who would not want more chocolate (*wink wink*). The flavour of the cupcakes are strong and exactly how the name suggests they are.
They serve two very different things on their menu, that I saw for the first time anywhere, one is the cupcake ice-cream and the second one is the cupcake shake. We had two different cupcake ice-creams. It is basically an ice-cream served with a cupcake on the top and different toppings around it. When you serve cupcakes with ice-cream the cupcake bounds to get dry, so keep this in mind when you order your cupcake ice-cream and choose the flavour accordingly(I enjoyed the Choco city cupcake with strawberry ice-cream). I ordered a Kitkat shake.I am not sure how they make the shake, but I am guessing they blend the cupcake with milk and cream. It sounds a bit like "huhhhh" but the shake was pretty good, it was a little heavy though. My mother enjoyed the shake and could not keep her hands off it, while I eyed her Cupcake Ice-cream.
They served coffees and teas also, but I went in only for the cupcakes. There are not many reviews about their coffees and teas too.

Red Box

We had an amazing time at 'The Red Box'. The food was yum, strong on the palate and stomach filling. This restaurant serves food that does not bloat you and make you feel thirsty, I thought I'll mention that first because I hate it when I come back home bloated due to excess ajinomoto. Red Box gives you a high dining experience and really good mocktails ,oh I love them! We sat down for a three course meal and out of the three, our favourite part was obviously the desert. My favourite was the New York cheesecake and the lemon cheesecake. The chocolate truffle was good but the cheesecakes stole my heart. The restaurant does not follow a particular cuisine type, although the interior decoration had a Japanese theme going on with red walls and black sofas. The overall experience was amazing and worth every penny.

Highway Gomantak

Personally I am not a Fish person, it is because of the fish-y taste you get when you eat a fish curry or something similar to it. Many people enjoy eating fish, but not me. However HIGHWAY GOMANTAK changed my mind completely. Highway Gomantak is a seafood restaurant located at Bandra East. It is a small restaurant with simple infrastructure and interior, The limited seating and large demand creates a problem though, as the waiting period can stretch upto an hour. They do not take reservations, and something that I did not like is they do not list names and just take people in randomly. People still wait because the food is worth it.

I did not want to go hardcore fish so I ordered a Mutton Thali which was amazing and spicy (not mouth burning spicy but the correct amount of spicy ). Thali is the best option if you want to eat like a proper plate of traditional Maharashtrian food. Everything we ordered was amazing, I'll list my order at the end. The best thing we ordered there was the sweet dish 'Kharvas' (which is like a sweet steamed milk pudding and it is eaten cold). If you ever go to Highway Gomantak , you have to taste their kharvas, it was amazing and one of the best sweet-dishes I have ever eaten. It is perfect after a heavy meal.
